Monday finds us still at anchor in Marsh Harbor, Abacos. Several days of unsettled weather is now followed by some of the seasons largest swell(waves) seen in this year. This prevents us from moving further south for several days still. Reports of 12-17 ft seas outside the reefs. But, this still is a great place to sit and wait,
In this small harbor there must be over 50 boats waiting for the weather to improve. There is many larger stores here, so food and drink are not in short supply. On a positive note, our parts for the watermaker showed up, so back in business.
Marsh Harbor is a great stopping off port, with water taxi service to several surrounding harbors. We took a day trip to hope town, home of the last oil fired light house. Smaller than Marsh, still very packed due to weather.
On a side note, supplies in the islands are all freighted in, so 1 gal of oil for the diesel engines runs from $44-$58 a gallon! Rum on the other hand is like $9 per liter+. Cheaper to drink than change or add oil. Plan ahead on major items like oil.
Several great locations here in the harbor. The Jib Room has great drinks and really good wifi, so able to update phone and tablet, post pics and blogs.
