Our next stop was Staniel Cay and the swimming pigs on Big Majors island. Quiet little community with small shops. This is a fuel site for a lot of passing boats, good anchor spot off of Big Majors, and of course the swimming pigs on Big Majors. This was a quick stop for us as we were running a day behind the others. A play to hit on the way back.
Next we pulled into Black Point as a staging area for the jump to Georgetown, some 50 miles south of here. We ate in town at a great spot, “Lorraines Cafe”. Wednesday and Saturday they have a BBQ buffet, very good. And of course a dinghy ride north about a mile to Bitter Guana Cay, home of Godzilla! wild roaming Iguanas. We pulled onto the beach and literally a dozen or more of them came running down the beach towards us! Very cool but please don’t feed.
As we chill for the day waiting a wind shift before the weather turns bad again we do a few boat projects and plan on exploring the island more… til next post.
